Nowruz
One of my favorite celebration is the Iranian New Year “Nowruz”.This celebration has celebrated since 3500 years ago..Nowruz begins the first day of spring and lasts 13 days. Before the New Year people clean the their houses and the last Wednesday Iranian build bon fires and jump over them, it gets rid of illness and misfortune. The first day of spring people arrange some items on the table beginning word the letter “s”in Persian : seeb(apple),seer(garlic),serkeh(vinegar),sonbol(hyacinth),samanu(sweet pudding),sabzeh(sprout),sekeh(coins),sumac(spice),senjed(measurement),and also a bowl of gold fish,a Koran, colored eggs, and a mirror. They symbolize beauty ,healthy, prosperity, and fertility. People sit around the table with their family. They visit older relatives eat nuts and sweets. The older give gifts or money to children. Iranian eat rice with vegetable and fish at eve’s night. Finally the last day of the celebration people go to nature. They have big picnic and enjoy their time together in nature.
