This is my necklace

When my grandmother was a kid, she grew up on a farm with her family in Mexico. When she was about 14, her father gave her a necklace which she saved in her bag. When she grew older, she left Mexico and traveled to Texas where my father was born. When her father died she remembered she still had the necklace. She kept the necklace close to her for years after her father’s passing. After a couple of years, she moved to Wisconsin and made her life here. On my tenth birthday, she gave me the necklace that her dad gave her. I was happy to see that she was giving me a part of her life and I felt amazing. I feel great knowing that a part of my grandma can always be with me no matter what. I keep it next to me at all times so that I don’t lose it and so I can keep it to pass it on to my kids. My grandma is special to me because of her love and her history and how I am very happy to be part Mexican. I learned a lot from my grandma after getting this necklace.
