Navy Jacket
My grandfather fought as a bomber pilot for the US Navy in World War II. The war has a big impact on him, and though he rarely spoke about it, he held on to the artifacts from this time in his life, including his pilot's jacket, which he later passed down to my mother. Though I never met him, my mother used to tell me stories from his life. Our family moved away from California years later, and we found his jacket while going through boxes from my grandparents' house. It was a rare occasion that I was allowed to wear it, and it was incredible to feel the history in the stitches, knowing all it had been through.
