My Vestuario
My VestuarioThis object is my Vestuario. This is a very special object to my family because we all took a part in making it. It’s special to us because it’s part of the Aztec culture that my family brought with them from Mexico. This specific Regalia represents my coming of age story in the Aztec culture. It has the corn on it because the Aztecs were known as “The People of Corn”. The eagle on it represents my Tonali. A Tonali is almost like a zodiac sign but it represents more of the person. In my whole Aztec group named Kalpulli Ketzalcoatlicue, I am the only person with the Tonali of an eagle. When i'm dancing with the dancers they make me feel like I’m a part of a second family because we give each other love and support. My family has been in Aztec dance for more than 10 years. My older sister, one of my cousins and I are the only ones who participate in the dance part of the culture from my whole family.
