My Uncle was the everything in my family. He was my generation of knowing our family history. He taught me the value of family, the importance of my roots of coming from the south, taught me that experience was important. I learned from him how to cook generation of recipes that was brought down from his great grandmother. He would tell stories about where his grandparents came from, how they used to be slaves in Alabama, and tell stories about his uncles and aunts, his mother all that included details of the life they used to live. He was the one person to get the family together on Sunday's to speak on history of our culture, food, and traditions that we will always have to pass on to the generations after us. He was a huge part of the family dynamic and kept everyone together, now that he is gone, his memory, importance, and knowledge will always be instilled in our family and younger generations.
