My portrait of me
This picture reminds of my first time in America from Liberia. I was introduced to a whole new culture that I wasn’t used too.The first few weeks was the worst. I have no idea what the lifestyle of American was, other than the lies people told about America in my country.I remember my first day in America, when I was ten years old and when I saw snow on the ground. My first thought that it was Ice cream; but I was told by dad that it was Ice. I was disappointed. I thought America was supposed to be like heaven like they said in my country. But America is nothing like they said or like in the picture. American dirty, full of homeless people and poor people who can barely put food on their table. Though America is not are bad as my country. I would have never imagined America to be what I see and heard. This picture is important because it reminds me of a big change in my life. I struggled to cope with the new system in school. Things were harder and more advanced, and I am so proud that I was able to catch up and get good grades in middle school.
