My Nana's Family Tree Quilt
Story pending

When I was not yet made, my Nana made a quilt of my family tree. It goes back 12 generations. The youngest is My mom Sage Forbes-Gray, born in 1981.The oldest is Thomas Dexter my great (x10) Grandfather, born in 1623 in Yorkshire England. It starts with my oldest ancestors at the top on leaves and the youngest (My mom and aunts) at the bottom on acorns. It was made of cotton and a special fabric that you can print photos onto. It was made in 2009 and took my nana 6 months to make but 30 years of genealogy to complete. My grandparents use it for decoration in their den in Vermont.
I chose it because it is a priceless treasure that tells of my past 12 generations. It tells the story of my culture because it informs you that some of my people were born in England and immigrated to the US in the mid 1600’s. The quilt is connected to my Nana and my mom's side of the family because it has the names and birthdates of so many people on my mom's side of the family.
I wonder if my Nana did this to make sure that all of my ancestors would be remembered. I think they will because this quilt is so well made it will not fall apart for a long time. I hope you have enjoyed me teaching you this and I hope you will remember my ancestors and this amazing quilt.
