My Nana’s Copy of Little WomenThe object I chose to reflect on is my Nana’s first book, a copy of Little Women. Although this book is just like any book made of cardboard and paper, it  is a significant part of my family's history. My Nana came from poverty, and this book was a very important gift from her grandfather as she was an avid reader and  she had gotten all her books from the library before that point. This book moved across the country with my mother and reminded her of home connecting her back to her family back home in Ohio. During her time away, her parents also got divorced so this book became a comfort to her. This book symbolizes her childhood as well as my Nana’s experience and the experiences of those around her. That being said, I do wish I knew more about my Nana’s experiences and her childhood. All I know is that like many other families around her, her family struggled financially. This book connects me to my past and my family who I don’t get to see often. Every time I read this book, it reminds me of them and it makes me feel more connected to my mom’s side of the family. It also makes me feel a greater connection to my Nana because we both share a love for reading.
