My mom migrating here to the U.S. changed her life completely. She left Guatemala to immigrate here. My mom came to the U.S. at the age of 30 all alone. My mom was unsure if she would come to the United States because she knew she would have to leave everything behind. She was gonna leave my oldest sister behind and my grandma. Since she was leaving my elder sister behind, she feared my grandma's reaction and decided it would be best to go without telling her. My mother came to the United States to improve her life for my sisters and me. Once she got here, she had a hard time adjusting to the new environment. My mom came here not knowing she was pregnant with my other sister. My aunt was here to assist my mom. My mom's only fear was that if my aunt discovered she was pregnant, she was going to kick her out. When my mom initially discovered she was pregnant, my aunt was quite hard on her and her in general because she wanted to let her know that things were difficult here. My mother was overjoyed to be able to bring my older sister here as it meant that the whole family would be together. I  appreciate and am proud of my mother.
