My Favorite Chain

Relationship: Child of im/migrant

My name is Yakelmy Gonzalez. I am from the Dominican Republic. I came to NYC on August 15, 2017. I am a student at the ESOL immigrant service program at the Sunnyside Community Services.

I’m going to talk about my favorite chain. Is a chain which I take care of a lot, and I do not take it off at all.  This chain was my mother’s.  Then when I came to the United States, I brought this chain with me. For that a reason I always have it with me. This chain reminds me a lot of my mom; she is not with me,she is in the Dominican Republic.  My mom is my biggest inspiration. All of the things that I do are for her. I miss her a lot and that’s why when I look at my chain I feel that she is next to me.  The chain is gold and the stone are red and that’s why she’s my favorite. I always talk to my mom. I feel sad because I miss her. This is my first time that my family is not with me.
