My Blanket

Relationship: Im/migrant

When I moved to the United States from the Dominican Republic I brought my blanket to remember my country every morning when I wake up. This blanket is my favorite because my grandmother sewed in a machine for me and it is really soft. One side of my blanket is dark pink and the other side is light pink. When I was in the Dominican Republic I used it everyday but here I only use it sometimes because it does not made me feel warm when the weather's really cold. Sometimes when I wake up that makes me feel like I am  in my native country for a couple of minutes. I have had it since ten years ago or maybe more. I remember I was a little girl when I got it. This blanket reminds me of my grandmother’s hugs, kisses and kindness. I feel very happy every night when I am with my blanket before falling asleep and many good memories come to my mind. I use my blanket almost every night. I wash my blanket and when it get dry I use it immediately. I always keep my country in my mind with or without my blanket. My nationality, my fatherland, my country runs for my veins. I love my Dominican Republic.
