Mom’s embrace
It’s all started in 2015, I went to visit my mom in Sana’a at the time she had gathered her money for so long. She had planned to give me and my little sister a first gold necklace as a gift. After a few weeks she finally bought it, but she had to sell her own gold to do so. In the early morning, my mother called me and handed me the gold necklace. She said, “take care of it.” Having her gold necklace around my neck made me feel happy and excited. A week later my mother died. The only meaningful item that I cared about since then was my gold necklace that she gave me. I even carried it with me to the U.S. This necklace will be always around my neck because that was the last thing my mother gave to me and I can feel her presence with me every minute.
