Mimi’s Heart Trinket. My Mimi, who is my dads mother, passed away when I was only five. Because of this I have very few memories with her, but the one that stands out the most is this: My mother, my sister, Mimi, and I were somewhere in downtown Connecticut, because that's where my grandpa lives and my Mimi used to live and where my dad and his brother grew up. We were shopping and at some point my Mimi bought my sister and I little heart trinkets that have swirls on them, mine is orange and my sisters is red. I have kept this on my bedside table or desk ever since I got it, it's gone through one state, three towns and three houses. I use this heart to feel closer to her by holding it and praying to her. Since I had such little memories with her and I was so young when she passed away, this object is so important to me to remember her and keep her alive in my memory. I am honestly very envious of all my other family members who have so many memories with her and were so close to her, I don’t think they realize how lucky they are to have those bonds and memories to remember her by. But one thing my sister and I have that no one else has, is our heart trinkets, and the memory behind them.
