The spinning top is a mexican toy; made out of plastic and metal have largely supplanted the use of the wood in the top. The original spinning tops comes from japan. The top was used to play traditional jewish hanukkah games back over 2000 years.The spinning top in the picture is special to me because it was given to me by my grandpa for my first birthday. My grandpa handmade the spinning top;  instead oh easily buying one at a store. He said by making the top himself he will feel more connected to his grandson.
