I have a large family, however the most interesting story comes from my Granddad. My Granddad served for the U.S. Navy in the Korean War times. He got to travel all over Europe and Asia. I have a vivid memory of him on grandparents night in elementary school, he walked over to the globe and showed me everywhere he had been stationed. I remember him telling me that Italy was his favorite place he was staged. He returned home with many gifts for my dad and his family, however most of them are long gone now. While my family did not migrate, we sure have been to a lot of places around this big world. My family has a history of military service, connecting us to many other families around the world. While my dad and his family never had to move, they had the same experience as any other military family. I can relate this story to my eighth grade teacher Mrs. Tobasco. She told us her father was a military man and her family had to move all over the place, her favorite being Alaska. My Granddad was one of the most influential people in my life, so his funeral was something very beautiful for me. He earned his encased Memorial Flag and the playing of TAPS. My family has many stories, however this one is the most interesting, and while I can’t get a picture of his Memorial Flag (because it’s with my aunt and I don’t want to put her through that, because of the time in her life right now) I can put one that looks exactly like it.
