Mecedora

Relationship: Im/migrant

My object is a mecedora.  A mecedora is a movable chair.  It is used to put babies to sleep, and to sit down.  It feels comfortable and relaxing.  This mecedora was made in the Dominican Republic with natural wood.  It is important to me because I can rest, and it reminds me of my mother sleeping.  My grandmother prayed there at night, and told stories of her life. I remember that I used to play with my brothers and sisters.  I was nine years old when my grandmother brought it into the house.
