The image is of my great-great-grandpa Max’s diary. The diary goes into great detail on his life story. In 1885 he was born into a poor Russian village of about three thousand people. Max and his family were the only Jews in the village. He was a socialist revolutionary who protested the Russian Tsarist government; eventually moving to New York around 1906 when he was notified that he would be drafted into the Russian army. Afterwards, he went on to live in New York eventually having my great-grandfather Sydney who I was fortunate enough to have met when I was younger.
This diary has been passed down from him to my great grandfather Sydney making its way down to me. Max holds a special place in my heart as I was given my middle name after him. He is also one of the first to immigrate from Russia and settle down in New York which is where my dad’s side of the family is from. I hope to pass on this diary to my kids and to future generations to tell the story of our ancestry.
