Matzo ball soup
Almost every Jewish holiday my grandma makes matzo ball soup. She hands out the bowls to everyone and watches us all take our first few bites to see our reactions! It's always absolutely delicious so we make sure to let her know. Over the years as people's diets change, she adapts her soup recipe so that they can eat it too. She makes me my own vegetarian bowl and also a few gluten-free bowls for some of my cousins. Every time she makes it i end up going home with a giant container of soup with my name written on it with Sharpie. Matzo is essentially flour and water baked to make a thin crunchy cracker and when blended with egg, water, and seasoning and formed into a ball it makes a mushy almost tofu-textured thing to put in broth. Matzo is traditionally a Jewish food; my grandma's recipe has been passed down through generations.
