Maple Leaf
The picture I took was of three maple leafs that I got in Canada. Which is important to me because my grandfather is French- Canadian. I never knew my grandfather as he died when I was only three. So it is important for me to cherish his national identity. The place I got this was in Montreal and I didn’t have a good time because of food poisoning. I ate a bad lobster on my first night and two days later the first. Anyways, before I got food poisoning I bought this and what is so great is that there are three leaves which is important because I don’t have just 1 country of origin, I’m mixed (97% white according to ancestry DNA). So it is important that the different color leaves are bonded together because it shows unity. I recognized this before I bought it and I couldn’t not take it after I looked at it. Now I feel like it’s a part of me because I am too mixed to have one centralized identity like many others have and I feel that this semi plaque represents that.
