My mom’s family is from Libera. My mom, aunt, and grandmother lived outside of the city and villages. Life was very different for them then here. In 1983my mother was around the age of 7 when she had to leave libera due to civil war that killed thousands of people, they escaped by boat. When they landed they ended up living in Texas and living there for a long time. in 1991 my family moved to Minnesota were live now.  The story of how my family got here is important to me because I, wouldn’t be here today if they weren't fortunate enough to escape. Even though I've only heard the story a few times it’s something that’s important to my family.
