Ever since 1st grade, I have been in love with lacrosse. I still remember one of my first lacrosse sticks, a baby blue head with a pink and black zebra print shaft. Now, I have a Gait lacrosse stick which holds my most memorable lacrosse moments: playing on my high school varsity team, traveling the east coast for tournaments, trying out for a new club team, and getting recruited to play lacrosse in college. I have always valued a lacrosse stick because it’s how I play the sport I have dedicated myself to. Deciding where I would further my academic and athletic career was an exciting and stressful time. College coaches cannot contact lacrosse athletes until September 1st of their junior year of high school. When that day came, the madness began; my two top schools had contacted me. I visited the school I had always seen myself going to and loved the school; unfortunately it did not work out. Disappointed, I knew that opened doors for bigger and better opportunities. I visited the University of Massachusetts Amherst and fell in love with the school. Deciding to go to UMass was one of the biggest decisions I have made. Since I first picked up a stick, I knew I would play for the rest of my life. It brought me some of my closest friends, and it is important to me we can all bond over love for it. I would not be here without the support of my family, friends, coaches, teammates, and most importantly my lacrosse stick which brings me the ability to play lacrosse.
