La virgen de la Altagracia
My traditional object is La Virgen de la Altagracia. My grandmother gave it to my mother four years ago before arriving in this country, and from that moment on it became very important to us. My grandmother had that object in her house for 20 years. She tells me that she bought it in a Basilica in Higuey and that it was manufactured in Santo Domingo. This is very important for me because I had to come to a new country to have more opportunities. Every time I see the Virgin I remember my grandmother and I realize how much I miss her since she taught me to thank the Virgin. Since then I have gotten used to the fact that when something positive or negative happens to me, I always thank him for keeping me alive. This connects with my identity because I grew up in a place that believed in God and the Bible and when I have a problem I hope that she listens to me and can help me and I hope to keep my Virgin of Altagracia in every place I go. I moved and was able to give one to someone so they would always be grateful and take it everywhere.
