My object is a collar de La Virgen de Guadalupe (necklace).  It was made in Ecuador.  I keep it because my parents gave to me. The history behind it is my parents gave to me on a surprise party so it's important for me because they gave to me for my 15 birthday.  It is very important for my culture because the Guadalupe Virgin is a Catholic culture and this virgin is from Mexico. My culture is Catholic. The collar de la Virgen de Guadalupe (necklace) shows the Virgin Mary praying with her head tilted.  Also with baby Jesus underneath her.  It is made from gold.  My parents gave it to me because I was turning 15.  In my community when you turn 15 it is leaving my childhood behind and turning into a young woman.  This necklace is important to me because it is a reminder to me of my parents back home and their love for me.
