Knife
I was given a knife from my Boy Scouts mentor. It's not super old, just practical. It's good for cutting stuff and survival. But what really matters is why I got it. After leading my first camping trip, my mentor saw I could handle things, even with new challenges like having girls in our group. He saw me grow from a goofball to a responsible leader who still knows how to have fun. He gave me the knife to show I could handle responsibility. I'll give it to my kid when they're ready to be responsible too, without being too serious. It's not just a knife, it's a symbol of growing up and being a leader, which is what I want to teach my kids.
