This Soviet cassette was bought for my mother by a friend shortly after they both had migrated to the United States. On it is a 1987 film called "Kindzaza," an allegorical sci-fi classic. This object is important to me and my parents because it is a connection to our homeland, and is a reminder of the culture I grew up with. I have watched this film enough times that the picture now appears in black and white from the wear. This cassette, along with many others of its kind, has played a vital role in educating and socializing me. Without tapes such as this one, my Russian language skills would definitely not be as good as they are, or perhaps I would have an accent. Overall, the cassette is a symbol of our family's history in the Soviet Union.
