Jumping GenerationsA keffiyeh is a traditional Palestinian headscarf that protects people's heads from the sun while living in a desert area. It’s a tradition to pass down one to the son in the family. My father gave me mine, and the tradition started with my great-great-grandfather who passed a keffiyeh down to his son. Every son in the family has been given the same one and now I have it. It is made from cloth and it is handmade. This specific one came from Palestine.  At the beginning of the year, I was given my keffiyeh this year. I don’t use this personally, but I keep it on my wall to make sure I’m reminded of where I came from and know the struggles my people are going through now and back then. I don’t have many questions about my item, but I do have one, that is who my grandparents were, the only thing I knew about them is they all lived in Palestine. Living in Palestine at the time wasn’t so bad but later on, my grandfather from my dad’s side of life was different compared to his parents, he suffered from violence and almost being killed and shot in the head, but he fled to Syria. This allows me to remember my heritage.
