kalamkari
Kalamkari is a form of Indian artwork done by hand. There is a different Kalamkari for every state in India. Kalamkari is done on carpets, walls, and handkerchiefs. My parents brought carpets that had Kalamkari on them when they immigrated to the USA. My grandmother recently visited us and she brought me a beautiful handkerchief with Kalamkari that she did herself, to show her love. My mom also has a dupatta which has an Indian peacock on it. My grandmother also gifted my mom with a Rajasthani sari with Rajasthani Kalamkari. This helps me feel connected to my grandma and drawings help me feel connected back to Indian culture.
