There are many more traditional Moroccan clothing pieces,  but this Jillaba is more special since it was the first   traditional Moroccan clothing that I owned. When I wear my Jillaba it makes me feel like I am back in Morocco with my family and it boosts my confidence. I brought this Jillaba back from my first trip to Morocco.  I chose a Jillaba because only Moroccan people wear Jillaba's. . Both women and men wear Jillaba’s. Since I live in American I usually wear my Jillaba’s on our Islamic holidays. In Islam, there are two holidays, Eid Al Fitr and Eid Al Adha. On these holidays we dress up in our traditional clothing, gather with family and friends, and eat cultured food. There are Jillaba’s that are more simple than the one in the picture and there are ones that are fancier. Women wear Jillaba’s when they go out in Morocco to be modest. In addition, if you need to run a quick errand you can just throw this on top of whatever you are wearing and go out.   In Morocco, grandmothers are always wearing Jillaba’s whenever they go out because it is so comfortable.  During Eid al Fitr we go to the mosque to pray and people are wearing their traditional clothing, and whenever I see someone in a Jilaba it automatically gives me a flashback and reminds me of Morocco  Jillaba’s are handmade by Moroccans, and most families end up creating a friendship with the person who makes their Jillaba’s and I love that.  The community is amazing and my Jillaba reminds me of that. My Jillaba represents so much to me and it also reminds me of how proud I am, and should be to be a Moroccan woman.
