This artifact has been in my family for over 60 years. It was bought in 1969 by my grandpa when the Jets won their first and only Super Bowl ever. The tradition is that if the Jets win a game, the Jets doll faces the sun, and if the Jets lose, the Jets doll faces the dark. As you can tell, over the years, the doll hasn't gotten much sun. My family has been season ticket holders for the Jets ever since 1969, and have always gone to every home game, and now the tradition continues on with the grandchildren including myself. This is important to me and my family because it's something that goes through generations. My family looks at this doll as a symbol of joy and memory. It serves as a reminder of the ups and downs we have experienced as loyal Jets fans. The doll's position has become a source of anticipation and hope for us, as we eagerly await each game's outcome and the subsequent positioning of the doll. As you can tell, the doll has been through a lot of changes. The older the doll gets, the more special it becomes. My grandpa can still come to my apartment and see the doll he bought all those years ago for my mom and her siblings when they were little. The doll holds sentimental value for our family, representing a cherished connection between generations. Its presence not only symbolizes our shared love for the Jets, but also serves as a tangible link to our family's history and traditions.
