Japchae
My object is Japchae. I choose this object because every Thanksgiving we go to my Grandparents and bring it with us every time. Japchae is a dish made with glass noodles, vegetables, and beef or pork. I’ve never tried to cook it but I want to start and cook more. I have not had many Korean dishes but Japchae is my favorite out of the ones I have had. My mom was adopted from South Korea when she was a baby. Since my Mom never experienced life in Korea or its culture. Making Korean food in a way connects me to Korean culture. Having food from South Korea where my mom could have forgotten where she came from but she tries to keep connected with her birth country. A lot of times people coming to a country they try to block where they came from but keeping some of the culture it can give more meaning to it. Like Japchae if we had more Korean traditions/food then it wouldn't seem that special. But since it's a special thing to have it does have more meaning to my family.
