Jamaican and American flag

For my object I chose the Jamaican flag/ american flag. These symbols represent the struggle and hardships experienced and both of my cultures in one. The colors shown, the red, white, and blue on the American flag along with the green, yellow, and black on the Jamaican flag show the struggles my parents and all my ancestors experienced, the pride they take in their culture and where they looked for the opportunity for a better life. For me, these flags represent what people before me have fought for. My story is about my parents. They came to the US from Jamaica and have lived here ever since. This symbol highlights the essence of my father's journey as he moved to the United States from Jamaica. His journey connects both America and Jamaica because he brought his values, traditions, and culture and still has these today. He used the move as an opportunity to better his life and my moms. When they moved here, they had my sister and I and they fought to make sure we had a good life. This symbol not only represents a flag but the core of migration and the strength needed to adapt and live in a new place as an immigrant.
