A light green jade bracelet

Because my parents were born in China, Chinese culture frequently plays an important role in my family. My parents immigrated to America around 1999 and resided in New York for a few years before moving to Massachusetts. When my mom immigrated to America, one of the possessions she brought with her included her jade bracelet. In Chinese culture, jade is viewed with the ability to protect the body and spirit, both for the living and the dead. In ancient China, they were worn to ward off evil and injuries. These ancient beliefs that are associated with the power of the jade bracelet still exist, including the tradition of wearing jade bracelets for protection. My mom, like most Chinese parents, gave me a jade bracelet to remind me of her protection and love.
