Italian Flag
My object is the Italian flag. I grew up in an Italian household not traditional more Brooklyn Italian. Family is such a big part of my life and upbringing we wouldn't follow many traditions but there were some we did. In Italian culture an established practice is to name the firstborn son after the paternal grandfather, signifying a strong family lineage and honoring the older generation. My grandfather is named William everyone calls him Bill when my aunt had her son she named him William. Something else that is very prominent in Italian culture is not wearing a hood or a hat at the dinner table my grandmother STRONGLY enforces that one. Although this is present in other cultures as well. As I am not 100% Italian I do strongly identify with this side of my identity. Food is one of the biggest (and in my opinion best) parts of Italian culture. Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner is a feast in my family everyone brings something different even me and my sister make a dish to bring. Every time I go to my grandma's house there's always food on the table one time I got to my grandma and she was out with friends she had made food earlier that day so we would have homemade food to walk into. We are also a large family and had a huge extended family i love having a big family I couldn't imagine walking into a family party or BBQ and not seeing everyone.
