My aunt's grandmother passed down this carpet-like image that's about 30 years old of Virgin Mary. We (my family) now have hung up on the corner of our wall at home, the image came from my great great grandmother that my family grew up with and have now, it's important to me because it represents/shows my religion and beliefs and I always see it and each family member decorates it every year differently and always add in new flowers when they can ! Its basically important all the time because on special occasions like December 12, we celebrate her birthday by singing a specific song dedicated to her and eating special foods because her image appeared on the hill of Tepeyac in Mexico in 1531 and my family and me  "Pray The Rosary" which is also something related to her and even more. People do it to find comfort during life's deepest transitions, and build harmony within their community, and it's been a HUGE part of my life since I have been doing and learning about it at a young age.
