Hummus
Yum, whenever I talk about hummus it makes me hungry, in class we had to make a presentation about an object from my heritage. I chose hummus. Hummus is a Middle Eastern food, it's mainly made out of chickpeas, sometimes you drizzle olive oil on it, sometimes you don't, it's basically chickpea sauce, but it's called hummus, (chickpeas in Arab).
Hummus is a middle eastern dish, but Syria made it in the 13th century. Now it's a dish sprinkled around all Middle Eastern countries. The reason I chose this dish is because my mom is Lebanese and we have it A lot in my house because it's quick and easy. Also my family has been eating this dish for a long time. Sometimes my Poppy (grandpa) invites me and my siblings over and he gets Lebanese food and we gobble it down like a pack of wolves.
Sometimes my mom prepares it, sometimes we buy it already made, either way it's delicious. My family dips pita bread, pita chips, pretzel chips, pretzel twists, carrots, cucumber, bell pepper, and tomatoes in hummus. My dad and mom dip falafel in hummus. There isn't just one flavor of hummus, there's multiple. I will name SOME. There's roasted red pepper hummus, roasted garlic hummus, sriracha hummus, and chocolate hummus. My mom is Middle Eastern and my great grandma and great grandpa migrated from Lebanon to Detroit Michigan because there was a big Middle Eastern population there.
