“A hot comb is a metal comb that is used to straighten moderate or coarse hair and create a smoother hair texture. A hot comb is heated and used to straighten hair from the roots. It can be electrically heated.” A hot comb is an object that mainly African Americans use and I think that my family would think that a hot comb is a positive thing because it’s something that is able to get your hair straight. Hot combs are used for certain occasions like holidays. This object came from a person named Madam C.J Walker, who was an African American millionaire. 
My grandparents were the first to use that object on their kids’ hair.  My mother started using that tool once she had her two girls. This object makes my hair straight or any other African American women hair straight. On certain occasions such as Christmas, Thanksgiving I used to use this object to make my hair straight. My mom straightening my hair before Christmas shows that she thought Christmas was important. This object is important to me and other black women because I have memories of my mother used this object on me when I was younger. This object connects to my culture because it was made by an African American. Also, only African Americans used to use it all the time for occasions.
