Hat
My object is this Cups baseball cap, although I don't have the exact one that my grandfather and my dad wore, it’s still a symbol of what my grandfather had with him when he came to the US. It has a great cultural significance in my family, as my grandfather wore a cap like this when he immigrated to the United States from Italy. My father wore the same cap when he proposed to my mother and in the hospital for the birth of my eldest brother. When my dad was on the baseball team he would always wear the hat before his game, because he thinks of it like it’s a “lucky” hat. My dad got the hat from my grandpa, It is a red hat, with a big white letter C in the front, my dad told me about the hat when we were sitting in the hospital waiting for his first grandbaby to be born. We were sitting on the chair next to each other. When we received the news that the baby was born and it was a boy. He smiled at me and said, “see I told you, it is a lucky hat”. This is important to me because when I wear it I feel lucky and I feel like good things are going to happen.
