Handmade Ornaments
The item I chose that has meaning to me is an ornament. It is not just one ornament that is special to me, but many ornaments. Every Christmas since I was born, which is 13 years now, my great grandmother has given me a handmade ornament. These ornaments are always thoughtful and personalized, which makes them so much more special to me. My favorite ornament that she has given to me is knitted, and looks just like my dog Leo. My great grandmother made sure every detail was perfect, from his brown and tan fur, to his pointy black ears. It even says his name with the year on it. She gave me that ornament seven years ago when I first got Leo as a puppy. Another ornament that is one of my favorites is a hand-blown clear glass ornament that looks like a star shape. It looks beautiful against the colored Christmas lights. I always like to place it in front of a yellow light on the tree. I stopped receiving these special ornaments two years ago when my great grandmother passed away. I am very lucky to have the ones that I do have, and continue to think of her every year when I hang them up on our Christmas tree. My grandma has carried on the tradition of giving me an ornament each year. Someday I will pass all of these ornaments down to my children.
