Greek Orthodox Church
In 1929, before my great great grandmother's trip to the United States from the Peloponnese in Greece, a Greet Orthodox nun, gifted her this Virgin Mary. It was given to her as a sign of good luck on her trip by boat, and this item was very precious to her. This nun was like a second mother to my great great grandmother because she was an orphan. This item was passed down to my great grandmother, and will be passed down to my grandmother. When in the United States she always kept this nearby because it reminded her of the nun, since she was like family to her.
