These are plates that my father brought back from his first trip to Greece. He displays them on the shelves in his office to remind him of his family's roots. In the mid 1900s, his grandfather’s parents immigrated to New York, setting in motion the life that he now understands. When he was a teenager, he took a trip to Greece and brought back these plates to remind him of where his family comes from. The plates feature classical Greek art styles and strong, independent people. They hold the morals commonly found in Ancient Greece, showing that tradition follows you no matter how long ago the events occurred. My father hopes to pass these plates down to my sister and I so that our family will never forget where we came from.
