The item I have chosen is my great-grandmother's oil painting. The painting was initially bought and housed in Germany with my Grossmama. She lived in Germany for her whole life and died the day after I was born in 2006. After her passing, the painting was taken by my grandmother, my Mutti, who kept it for many years before passing it to my parents when they were married. This is an essential object to me because it was a part of my Grossmama, someone I wasn't able to meet, but someone who was able to know I was born. My Grandmother (Mutti), always used to say that I reminded her of her mom, so this painting has become special because it was hers, and now it is mine. Even though I never had the chance to meet her, I am able to get to know her through stories and objects that I will cherish forever.
