Grandm's Arepas
Grandma's Arepas
Colombia culture is identified by gastronomy, I grew up in the city of Armenia with my maternal grandmother, she prepared the best arepas. She worked at home making arepas to sell to neighbors and grocery stores.
Every day she started to work at 3 am making arepas. She made hundreds and hundreds of daily by hands, we all helped in the family to make arepas.
She bought the white corn, cooked it, then ground it and made the dough. she rounded them by hand and finally cooked then on the grill
The best part was every morning, when we had a breakfast, we eat arepas whit coffee or hat chocolate.
She passed away, but my best memory was whit her helped to make arepas and sell them with her. I learned to make and I still doing at home, no that the same way, they was a really organic and artisanal arepas.
