This is a photo of my grandfather's hat that he used in World War 2. He used this hat throughout his training and throughout the war. He grew up in Michigan, which was also the state he lived in when he served in the war. After the war, he was able to attend Michigan St. for free because he had served in the war, which is also where my dad and sisters went to school. He served in the Air Force, working in communications. He never actually fought in the war, because it was already over by the time he made it to Europe. The hat is very important as it is a part of the few artifacts we have from my grandparents. It means a lot to our family that our grandfather was able to serve his country and help them win the war. The hat was passed down to my dad and then to me, along with various other things like cufflinks and a pocket watch.
