Graduation Tassel
The object that I chose for My Story is my tassel that came with my cap and gown for my high school graduation. I graduated from Andrews High School in Andrews, SC. I chose this object because my brother and I both graduated from this school. When we were younger, I was 3 and my brother was 11, we lived with my mother in Florence, SC. In a two-person apartment. We moved to Andrews because my mother needed help raising my brother and I. She met a woman when she came to Andrews named Jennifer. Jennifer and my mother raised my brother and I until we were old enough to move out by ourselves. This object is so significant because it demonstrates how my family finally settled. It also shows the progress in education throughout the family because my brother and I are the first generation to finish high school and graduate with Honors. When I think of Andrews High School, I think of how far my family has come and how much my mother has sacrificed for her kids. That tassel represents growth and accomplishment. I am excited to continue growing and showing my mother how much she has impacted our lives, and hopefully I can positively impact hers in the future.
