Gold ring
My artifact is a gold ring. The artifact is important to me because I got this ring from my grandma when I was a baby. I used to wear the ring but not anymore because it doesn't fit me anymore but I remember my grandma had a picture of me wearing the ring in my uncle's wedding, and it wasn't just me, my cousin who's a month younger than me was wearing it too. This ring connects to immigration because my grandma lives in Pakistan and I live in America. Even though we live far away from each other, the ring helps me feel connected to her and my family in Pakistan, and it also makes me stay connected to my culture because my mom always tell me that us afghans, we make gold for babies before they are born and gold ring is way important because this tradition is going on for years and it will continue going on. People in New York come from many other countries and cultures. My ring shows my Afghan culture and how my family's traditions are part of who I am, even if I live in the United States. My family came here in 2018 for safety because life in Pakistan was not safe and my dad didn't want me and my brothers to grow up in Pakistan and not be safe. A lot of people came to America for safety and for better life. ow my family is living a better live in New York and sometimes its not the some for everyone some people come to american to have a better live but is not happy because of the immigration laws.
