Gold Ring
My mom was going to migrate from Mexico to the United States, she was the first child to cross the border. So my grandma bought my mom a thin gold ring so she can always have a part of where she came from and of her. At the time when I was 10 I did not know why she would always wear the ring, so one day I asked her, “ Why do you always wear that ring? Why is it so important to you?” She answered, “ Because it’s a big part of me, it’s who i am.” And I thought how can a ring determined who you are, until my 14th birthday when she gave the ring to me as a gift I realized why. Now it is a big part of me because it remind me of where I come from, it reminds me of my roots. And now it has also become a tradition, my grandma gave it to my mom, my mom gave it to me, and i hope one day i can give it to my daughter.
