This gold plated bracelet represents my great grandma. My great grandma migrated from Puerto Rico to Chicago. This bracelet is significant because it was her bracelet she had as a child living in Puerto Rico until she moved to Chicago, it has traveled a lot. She still had this bracelet in Chicago. Also, she kept it on until she passed. My great grandmother’s bracelet is a real gold plated bracelet with a crisscross pattern on it. I first learned about this object when she passed away in 2020. My mother came home with it because she was able to have one thing in remembrance of my great grandmother. I remember her telling the story of this bracelet that I am telling now. This object is important to me because it is a commemoration of my great grandmother and all of her migrant experiences she had as well.
