Gold Bracelet
My object is a gold bracelet that my brother and I got when we were little. It is a small gold bracelet that I wore up until I was about 7 when I grew out of it.The bracelet is from my family back in Vietnam. My mother gifted the bracelet to me when I was 8 months old. The gold bracelet represented our family history as the bracelet was passed down for generations. The bracelet is important to me because it was a reminder of the part of my family that is still in Vietnam, which I have only seen twice in my life. To this day the bracelet is sitting in a locked cabinet waiting to be passed on to the next generation of children. My family migrated from Vietnam and landed in Rhode Island around 1970. My grandfather sailed her on a boat and landed in Rhode Island. He worked incredibly hard and was eventually able to bring my grandmother here to America. My family’s story is unique because my family had to endure the seas for days or even weeks just to reach America to escape the dangers of the Vietnam War. My family’s story connects to other family stories as it is about moving to the United States to find better opportunities in life.
