My grandpa makes this thing called a galette for us whenever we come to visit him. A galette is a type of food from a region in France called Brittany. It is a buckwheat crepe that you can fill with different fillings. It is usually used with savory fillings and my favorite are eggs, cheese, and ham. I have fond memories of eating this dish with my family. Eating galettes is something everybody will get excited for. We eat it for dinner, and then proceed to eat it for breakfast and lunch too. You are either at the table eating your galette with everybody around you laughing, or arguing who gets the next galette, or at least I do. There is a town in Brittany that I go to most summers called Saint-Cast-le-Guildo. Whenever you go to the center of town, there are tons of restaurants with galettes. If you go to the market there are areas that are dedicated to the galette, where you can find piles of homemade ones made by the best old Breton women so you will not have to deal with the trouble of making your own batter. My grandfather's family is from Brittany and eating the galette helps me feel a sense of closeness to them. A galette to me is something that helps bring family together.
