Fulu
The most well-known in China is Taoism and Buddhism, many elders believe that the Gods in religion can bless peace and there is no harm in being pious. Grandma has a room upstairs in her house with Buddhist statues, and the hall on the first floor with Taoist flags and supplies. But grandmother is more inclined to Taoism, probably because of the reason of the eldest uncle. The elders believe that things in religion can bless people with peace, or bring good luck. That's why some Chinese elders like to go to a temple or Taoist temple and ask the people inside to make a necklace or amulet for the peace of the younger generation. Because my eldest uncle was familiar with the people in the Taoist temple, my grandmother asked my eldest uncle to go to the Taoist temple and ask someone to make a Fulu, a few days before I came to the United States. The red cloth wrapped around the Fulu did not have the words to bless my peace, but rather the name of the Taoist God and the place where I live. The Fulu inside was probably to bless my peace, in another country, where I was unfamiliar. Grandma handed the amulet to me. This amulet gave me a lot of comfort when I stepped on a plane with a stranger to an unknown country, and it hung around my neck to protect me from the time I got on the plane to the time I got off. Even now, the amulet is in my room and I have it hanging over my bed.
